Blue Flower Power
Meadows
like this are why you make a point of getting to Steamboat
in early July. The alpine wildflowers are
truly amazing and worth a trip to Crested Butte even if you’re
not a mountain biker, see CrestedButteWildflowerFestival.com.
Most any trail in this area above 10,000’ will provide
equally aesthetically appealing views of the mountain wildflowers.
This picture was
taken at the start of Waterfall Trail, elevation about 10,500’. If you’re going to ride the Waterfall
Trail, this would be the last chance to stop and smell the flowers.
After this meadow you’re in for 1500’ of white
knuckle downhilling. Sublime singletrack and a beautiful alpine
environment
have made this trail one of my very favorite trails that I
make a yearly pilgrimage to every July. |
